To safely ship your Brailler to us for repair, there are a few easy to follow guidelines:

  1. Secure the carriage to the far right position, using a rubber band tied around the carriage knob and the paper feed roller
  2. Use the original shipping box and Styrofoam inserts
  3. If you do not have the original box, use a suitably sized cardboard box. We recommend placing your brailler inside a plastic bag (such as a shopping bag).
  4. Use crumpled up news paper to securely hold the Brailler in place on all sides. The goal is to prevent the Brailler from moving around during transit.
  5. Do NOT use Styrofoam packing peanuts or other pieces of Styrofoam. These can break down into small pieces and get stuck inside your Brailler
  6. Place a copy of our email confirmation in the box. If you do not have a printer, write your name, address, and phone number on a piece of paper and place it in the box.
  7. Seal the box using packing tape.
  8. Print our shipping label and “Free Matter For the Blind” lables and tape them onto the box. Be sure to fill out your return address on the label.
  9. Take the box to the post office or hand it to a postal worker. SHIPPING BRAILLERS IS FREE and covered as part of the Free Matter For the Blind program

$130 – This covers a complete tear-down, inspection, thorough cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments to make your Brailler perform like new.

Replacement parts cost extra. We do not mark-up replacement parts and there is no extra labor charge for installing them.

We make every effort to refurbish and re-use your existing parts.

Do not attempt to oil or clean the inside of the Brailler – Cleaning and lubricating the Brailler requires specialized skills and tools. Adding oil or wiping internal parts will cause your Brailler to stop working correctly.
